A genuine surplus store. The way it used to be done.

The Bossert family started buying government surplus in 1949, when crates from the Second World War were still arriving by the truckload. The retail storefront on 32nd Street opened in October 1990, and three generations later, the family runs it on the same principles: real gear, fair prices, and someone behind the counter who knows what they're selling.

We don't sell our surplus online. We don't reproduce. Everything in the store is the genuine article, and the only way to see it is to come down to 32nd Street.

NOTE: The surplus is in store only. We do not list inventory online, but we can ship on request if you cover the shipping. Custom dog tags are the one thing you can order online. Walk in, browse, ask. That's the trade.

What we do besides selling.

Three things Bossert's does alongside the retail floor. Some are licensed services, some just happened because regulars asked and we kept saying yes.

Firearms Transfers

Buy a firearm online or from out of state and have it shipped to our FFL. We accept the delivery, log it into our bound book, run your NICS background check, and put it in your hands. Flat $40 transfer fee, and the whole process usually takes about a week. One of the most common things we do across the counter.

Custom Dog Tag Stamping

On genuine US issue tag stock, stamped to the format of the era you specify, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, GWOT, or current GENESIS. Replacement tags for veterans, memorial sets, period correct reenactor kits. You can now order custom dog tags online, stamped and shipped.

Q.01 Where is Bossert's Military Surplus located?

Our store is at 434 NE 32nd St, Kansas City, MO 64116, just off North Oak Trafficway in the Northland. We're the only military surplus store in the Northland.

Q.02 Does Bossert's do FFL transfers?

Yes. Bossert's is a Type 01 Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL 5-43-047-01-8F-07460). We sell firearms in store and accept FFL to FFL transfers from out of state sellers. The transfer fee is $40.

Q.03 Do you do custom patch work on biker vests?

Yes. Bossert's has decades of experience patching biker vests, jackets, and uniforms with unit insignia, Purple Heart, Vietnam/Korea/GWOT theater patches, Bronze Star, branch rockers, and custom embroidery. Bring the vest and the patches; we handle the rest.
